Computer and Information Systems Department

Networking Laboratory, Rusteburg 105

The department of Computer Sciences/Computer Information Systems has a Networking lab with the ability to simulate from basic networking setups to the fundamental functions of the internet. The stations have a networking rack with a UPS to protect the networking components. The rack has the following elements: Two Cisco 2600 Routers, HP Procurve 2650 switch, Cisco Catalyst 2950 Switch, Cisco Pix 506e firewall, and a 24 modular patch panel. A tenth rack has a CPU unit, Hp Procurve 2650 switch and a 48 modular patch panel. Each CPU is connected to a switch and Router to allow a student to connect and experiment with new concepts introduced during the course. With this lab it is easy to experiment in one Networking Rack to familiarize students with the terminology and protocols of networking. Finally, the use of the tenth rack provides a central hub to connect all stations simulating a larger network.
